Dear
Colleagues,
We,
Abdelwaheb
Cheikhrouhou,
Professor
at
the
University
of
Sfax
(Tunisia)
and
Bernard
Barbara,
Director
of
Research
at
CNRS,
Institut
Néel
Grenoble
(France),
would
like
to
announce
you
that
we
start
a
new
cycle
of
conferences
involving
Solid
State
Physics,
Material
Science
and
Chemistry
including
applications
at
all
scales,
named:
“EMM-FM:
Euro-Mediterranean
Meeting
on
Functionalized
Materials”
As
the
number
of
involved
countries
is
pretty
large
it
will
be
easy
to
have
such
a
conference
every
two
years.
The
conferences
will
take
place
alternatively
in a
European
and
a
South-Mediterranean
country,
although
exceptions
will
be
possible
if
this
is
useful.
The
meeting
will
be
preceded
by a
two
or
three
days
school
for
young
scientists.
The
subjects
of
these
schools
will
be
carefully
decided
by a
scientific
committee
listening
to
the
needs
of
young
generations
and
also
foreseeing
the
spread
out
of
new
technologies
most
adapted
to
different
countries.
The
international
advisory
and
scientific
committees
include
members
of
most
Euro-Mediterranean
countries.
We
are
very
pleased
to
invite
you
to
attend
and
to
participate
in
the
First
Euro-Mediterranean
Meeting
on
Functionalized
Materials
“EMM-FM
2011”
to
be
held
in
Sousse
(Tunisia)
during
the
period
06-10
September,
2011
with
a
Workshop
(04-06
September,
2011).
Members
of
the
international
scientific
and
engineering
communities
interested
in
recent
developments
in
Functionalized
Materials
(Superconductivity,
Magnetism,
Ferro-electricity,
Materials
for
microelectronics
and
Microsystems,
Biomaterials,
Nanomaterials,
…)
and
related
technologies
are
cordially
invited
to
attend
the
Conference
and
contribute
to
its
technical
sessions.
The
wide
ranging
technical
topics
can
be
found
on
the
conference
web-site
www.tu-mrs.org/emm-fm2011.
We
do
hope
that
EMM-FM
2011
will
provide
a
platform,
where
solid
state
physicists,
chemists
and
material
scientists,
engineers
and
other
professionals
meet
together,
discuss
recent
progress
and
future
trends
in
the
multifunctional
materials.
The
program
will
feature
invited
presentations
by
internationally
recognized
scientists,
among
them
Albert
Fert,
the
Nobel
Prize
in
Physics
2007.
Contributed
oral
and
poster
presentations
will
complete
the
program.
In
order
to
give
an
opportunity
to
our
guests
for
an
unforgettable
holiday
together
with
the
best
scientific
event
to
be
held
in
Tunisia,
a
very
rich
social
program
will
be
organized
for
the
accompanying
persons
as
well
as
for
the
participants
and
particularly
a
post
Conference
three-days
tour
(September
10-13,
2011)
will
be
organized
to
the
South
of
Tunisia.
It
will
include
the
visit
of
the
caves
of
Matmata,
where
the
main
part
of
the
housing
environment
is
buried
underground,
dug
in
soft
rocks
what
allowed
to
increase
rooms
at
any
time,
Douz
city:
the
gate
of
the
desert
and
the
capital
of
the
nomads,
with
a
small
trip
in
the
desert
on
camel,

We
are
really
looking
forward
to
welcoming
you
at
the
famous
city
of
Sousse,
known
as “the
pearl
of
the
Sahel”
and
located
on
the
eastern
coast
of
Tunisia,
where
you
will
certainly
get
a
real
treat
in
terms
of
science,
culture
and
social
aspects.
Don’t
miss
the
opportunity
to
be
accompanied
by
your
family
to
this
wonderful
place
of
Tunisia.
We
wish
a
good
stay
in
Sousse
and
full
success
to
our
scientific
meeting.
